Court throws out lawsuit over storage on iPhones, iPads
A federal court has dismissed a lawsuit against Apple over the amount of storage available in mobile devices that come with iOS 8. The district court in San Jose, Calif., threw out the proposed class-action suit on Wednesday after Apple filed a motion saying the plaintiffs failed to back up their arguments. The case was dismissed with prejudice, meaning the plaintiffs can't sue Apple again for the same thing. Facebook speeds up iPhone app dev wih React Native
For Web developers, making the jump to building full-fledged smartphone apps can be daunting. Facebook could ease the transition with a newly open-sourced framework its engineers developed to build apps for Apple devices. The React Native framework provides a way to build app user interfaces for Apple iOS devices using JavaScript, a programming language well-known to many Web developers."What we've found is that when we build with React, our code is a lot more predictable. This predictability makes it so we can iterate more quickly with confidence, and our applications are a lot more reliable as a result," wrote Tom Occhino, Facebook software engineer in a post announcing the release during the company's F8 conference, ending Thursday. To read this article in full or to leave a comment, please click here Read More

Cisco patches autonomic networking flaws in IOS routers, switches
Cisco Systems released firmware updates for several routers and switches that run its IOS and IOS XE software in order to fix flaws in their autonomic networking infrastructure (ANI) feature.ANI is an automatic device management feature that allows Cisco IOS devices to securely join a domain and be configured without prestaging -- setting up the necessary accounts in advance.Cisco's new patches, released Wednesday, address three vulnerabilities in the way Cisco IOS and IOS XE devices handle autonomic networking (AN) messages. One vulnerability could allow a remote unauthenticated attacker to force a vulnerable device to join a rogue autonomic domain by sending it specially crafted AN messages. This would give the attacker limited control over the device and would prevent it from joining the legitimate domain, Cisco said in a security advisory. To read this article in full or to leave a comment, please click here Read More
