Consolidating Remote Servers and Storage for Security
A new kind of storage architecture allows IT to consolidate remote servers and
data in the data center by decoupling storage from its server over any
distance--even thousands of miles--and still get the same performance as if the
storage remained local to the branch.

Securing Edge Data at the Center
Even as enterprises focus relentlessly on consolidation of data centers, they
continue to aggressively expand the roles and numbers of branch offices, often
located in remote locations that are difficult to support and protect. That
poses the issue of how to protect data on the edge of the network, which may be
subject to a variety of risks.

China-based hackers are again targeting dissidents
The "Comment Crew," a group of China-based hackers whose outing earlier this
year in major media outlets caused a row with the U.S., have resumed their
attacks against dissidents.

No, your data isn't secure in the cloud
While online data storage services claim your data is encrypted, there are no
guarantees. And with government surveillance programs crawling the web for
metadata and email, there's little doubt online privacy can exist without strong
safeguards.

Hospital Turns to Email Archiving Solution
Read this case study to learn how a cloud-based email archiving solution enabled
the hospital to meet government mandates and helps avoid thousands of dollars in
projected storage costs.

Darlene Storm: GPS jammer to stop tracking messed up airport navigation, driver fired, fined $32,000
Even when work has a BYOD policy, that doesn't imply you can bring an
illegal GPS jammer to stop an employer from tracking the location of a
company-vehicle. After a driver used a GPS jammer, it messed up navigation
signals at Newark airport. He was fired and fined almost $32,000 by the FCC. But
detecting spoofed GPS is not so easy as researchers showed by sending fake GPS
signals to hijack an $80 million 213-foot yacht.

The Chinese hacker group that hit the N.Y. Times is back with updated tools
The Chinese hacker group that broke into the computer network of The New York
Times and other high-profile organizations, including defense contractors, has
launched new attacks following a few months of inactivity, according to
researchers from security vendor FireEye.
