More evidence that Microsoft's plan to port Android apps is dead
Microsoft's Project Astoria, a plan to build an emulator for Windows Phone that would allow Android apps to run without requiring a recompile, appears to be on hold for unknown reasons.Windows Central has dug up evidence that the project, one of four announced at the Build conference earlier this year, has been put on indefinite hold, but it did not ascertain why. The site says Microsoft is not openly talking about it anymore, or even privately discussing it with developers. One source said "the Android app porting is not going as planned."At the Build show, Microsoft announced four projects for porting software to Windows 10 and Windows 10 Mobile. HP's unique Elite X2 tablet can be repaired at home
HP's unique Elite X2 1012 tablet has a unique quality not found in similar devices today: It can be repaired at home. The rear of the tablet can be unscrewed to replace the screen, hard drive or storage, or add memory. That saves users time and effort as the tablet doesn't need to be sent away for repairs. Depending on the warranty, users may be able to get the peripherals at no cost. Some things like motherboard damage can't be repaired at home, and the tablet needs to be sent back to HP.To read this article in full or to leave a comment, please click here Read More

But that’s what HP says sets its convertible apart from similar designs, making it better suited for corporate customers who need to be able to service the devices. HP isn’t just taking shots at Microsoft’s Surface Pro-series either—the company says its similar (but consumer-focused) Spectre X2 isn’t up to enterprise standards of durability, either. To read this article in full or to leave a comment, please click here Read More
