Richi Jennings: Google not playing around with Google Play updates
A whopper of an update. Google (NASDAQ:GOOG) announced yesterday it is unlocking its Googly self to help empower gamers. Along with updates to allow game gifting, it has enhanced the Google Play Game service to permit multiplayer invites to Apple's iOS devices. Google of course, gets something outta all of this: Statistics data, and all of the "opportunities that in-app purchase ads" can offer. In IT Blogwatch, bloggers can't decide what to play. The US Army is embarrassed, but it's in regards to Thrift Saving Plan spear phishing emails traced back to the Army three weeks later; the fake e-mail was part of a cybersecurity test, but it set off panic.
