Motorola (NASDAQ:GOOG) surprised the world by announcing that its affordable and well-reviewed Moto G smartphone is now available for purchase in the U.S. Originally, the phone wasn't supposed to be available for American consumers until January. But in an act resembling St. Nick, Motorola shimmied down the chimney with a December delivery date. For good boys and girls, the Moto G can be purchased with no contract and unlocked bootloader; sure to bring visions of sweet hacking to phone and software modding communities.
