Jonny Evans: Just how important is a part in Apple's brand story?
There's a reason competitors like to go up against Apple: that reason's not just about business, it is because they hope to become part of the company's story. Darlene Storm: 750 million phones vulnerable to spying: Hack SIM card via tainted text to get root
Security researchers exploited an encryption flaw by sending hidden text messages like mobile operators do to push out updates. About 750 million phones may be vulnerable and the attack takes only about two minutes. "Rooting SIM cards" will be presented at the Black Hat security conference in Las Vegas. Read More

Preston Gralla: Developers say, "We love Windows Phone" but fail to cash in
More developers plan to write apps for Windows Phone than any other platform, concludes a recently finished survey. But their interest has been waning, and a significant problem is that Windows Phone's revenue potential simply hasn't been there. If this continues, Windows Phone could fall even further behind iOS and Android in app availability. Read More
