Defending Against Today's Targeted Phishing Attacks

Although email remains highly vulnerable to foul play, security continues to
rely heavily on principles and technologies that are more than a decade old.
Organizations need to take a new look at email security, particularly as newer,

Darlene Storm: Purdue Trollfest via trollface hacked electronic sign

A team of lulzy trolls at Purdue University kicked off October and
cybersecurity month by hacking a digital sign on campus to display an image
of the infamous Internet trollface along with flashing these messages:
"Problem Purdue?" "Trollfest 2012" and "Get
HAXXOR3D!" Meanwhile, as a sign of 'protest' against the price and poor
quality of college educations, Team GhostShell attacked the world's
top 100 universities and leaked 120,000 user accounts and student records.
Lastly, Defense Secretary Leon Panetta warned of cyberwarfare attack
scenarios and the coming 'cyber Pearl Harbor.'

How IT Can Prepare for Mobile Forensic Investigations

If your IT security team must comply with regulations like PCI-DSS or HIPAA, you
need to know who accesses your data and what they do with it, even if they're
using a mobile device to do it. But performing forensic investigations on mobile
devices is trickier than it is on PCs.

The Steam URL protocol can be abused to exploit vulnerabilities in games, researchers say

Attackers can abuse the way browsers and other applications handle steam://
protocol URLs in order to exploit serious vulnerabilities in the Steam client or
games installed through the platform, according to researchers from startup
vulnerability research and consultancy firm ReVuln.

Jonny Evans: Opinion: FBI security scare means Apple's iPhone beats Android for BYOD enterprise

Apple already leads the mobile enterprise with its iOS devices, and seems
likely to consolidate its grip in the months ahead, with the security of its
platforms giving the firm a sure grasp on hearts and minds in corporate IT,
while its competitor gets named and shamed in an FBI warning.
