iPhone 6s teardown reveals a smaller battery and heavier display
The industrious tinkerers at iFixit got their hands on an iPhone 6s and 6s Plus and immediately tore the things apart to figure out what makes them tick.+ ALSO ON NETWORK WORLD 4 ways Apple missed the mark with iPhone 6s +The teardown confirmed much of what we had already deduced: The 6s has a smaller battery, 2GB of RAM, and—thanks to the technology behind 3D Touch—a heavier display. But it’s cool to get a peek inside the phone and see exactly how which pieces Apple picked to make it work (and there sure are a lot of pieces). To read this article in full or to leave a comment, please click here Read More

Early iPhone 6S reviews: Apple's got another winner
As I await my iPhone 5 replacement -- a shiny new iPhone 6S -- to make its way from the FedEx facility in Tennessee, I'm stuck reading early access reviews of the new Apple smartphones. And while my motivation to get the phone was driven more by my son's push to get my current phone than for me to acquire a new one, the reviews now do have me looking forward to getting my hands on the 6S.I've been most interested in the iPhone 6S's improved camera, 12mp on the back camera and 5mp on the front (not that I'm a big selfie guy). Early reviews are that the cameras are better and that the new Live Photos feature (think Harry Potter moving paintings) is more gimmicky than addictive. To read this article in full or to leave a comment, please click here Read More

iPhone 6s is just big enough to make iPhone 6 battery charging cases useless
Some months ago I ran a feature on the variety of iPhone 6 battery cases that can more than double your phone's battery life by offering a 120% recharge for your phone. What that means is they can recharge your phone from a complete drain, plus another 20% charge. Now Apple has come out with its S release of its smartphone, like it has done since the iPhone 4, where it alternates between a version number and that version number with an S on the name. Apple typically doesn't make changes in the S version in terms of dimensions, but with the 6s, Apple changed it just enough to be annoying. To read this article in full or to leave a comment, please click here Read More
