Restricting what users can do on mobile devices and threatening to wipe devices that are rich with personal apps and content is a recipe for user discontent. MDM, essentially locking down devices, assumes IT has complete control of the device and can ignore user wishes. While this may be acceptable in a corporate owned environment, in BYOD and COPE organizations, the needs of the user and their personal use of the device must be considered and supported.
