A security awareness success story
The problem with Security Awareness programs is that it is hard to prove their
successes. As with all security countermeasures, success is usually that nothing
happens. Ideally, success also means that there is a report of the attempted
attack, however that is rarely the case. With technical countermeasures however,
logs are usually maintained that allow people to point to all of the prevented
attacks.

Integrated Performance Management Pays Dividends
The mainframe is an indispensable element of the IT infrastructure of financial
services companies, but poor application management is costly. New research from
IDG shows how integrated performance management yields real gains in

Darlene Storm: Have cops or feds secretly hijacked your iPhone or Android with 'legal' spyware?
After capturing secret remote control "implants" in the wild, the
Italian Hacking Team's Trojans that target and infect smartphones for
maximum surveillance, Kaspersky Lab and Citizen Lab gave detailed reports on the
"legal" spyware. While the mobile implants are also available for
BlackBerry and Windows Phones, we are primarily looking at stealthy and invasive
Remote Control System (RCS) toolkits, aka the Hacking Team's "lawful
intercept" Galileo software aimed at iPhones and Androids.

Richi Jennings: NSA gives Microsoft an 'F' for spycraft; Brad Smith vents at FISA
FISA #FAIL, opines Mr. Smith (in Washington).
Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT) general counsel Brad Smith is mad: Really, truly,
hopping cross. Speaking in DC, at the Brookings Institution, Smith vented his
anger over U.S. spying and the secret FISA courts. He also revealed the "Company
F" that the NSA were so exercised about in 2009 was Microsoft.
