The Thought Police from Orwell's 1984 have arrived in the form of a "mind-reading" helmet machine made by Veritas Scientific who said of the brain-spying device, "The last realm of privacy is your mind. This will invade that." Even your molecules are not private with the emerging portable technology which Homeland Security will use to secretly scan you from 164 feet away. It's "ten million times faster—and one million times more sensitive—than any currently available system." Where does that leave us in regard to the First Amendment's freedom of speech, or thought in this case? Or how about the Fourth Amendment which protect against unreasonable searches and seizures?
