All we wanted to do was answer a simple question: Which U.S. airports do tech best? The question may have been simple, but finding the answer wasn't. In fact, the article "20 Best U.S. Airports for Tech Travelers" ended up being the most complex project in PCWorld's 30-year history, requiring two editors, one in-house researcher, 31 field researchers, and the support of dozens of airline and airport personnel. Senior Editor Mark Sullivan oversaw the four-month project, and he began by recruiting "tech auditors" from across the U.S. and setting them loose in secure areas of the country's 40 largest airports. Their assignment: Count all electrical outlets, charging stations, work desks, USB ports, and any other tech amenities. Then test connection speeds for cell network speeds as well as airport Wi-Fi service. How does your local airport stack up? Read Mark's article and check out the charts for a detailed analysis.
