Do you know? - By 2025, Gartner predicts that 50% of data will be produced at the edge, which represents as much data as all the data created during the entire 2020 year,
- In 2030, the world will create 15x more data than in 2020
- Between 2010 and 2014, when data grew 5x, server workloads grew 26x,
- Companies will have become as professional as the data center industry to control costs and power consumption
- With Edge Computing, workloads can run in many different places and companies will need a lot of optimization to find the right balance for costs, latency, data sovereignty, privacy, and sustainability
Given the magnitude of the problem, - An application-by-application implementation is not going to scale in the long run
- Systems need to be put in place to start tracking the applications and the infrastructure from a cost and power consumption perspective
- The goal of any IT group will be in addition to deliver the functionality of applications to drive the cost and power consumption of all applications down year over year.
