IBM aims new IoT community site at developers
Hoping to rally the worldwide development community around the Internet of Things and drive business to its cloud services as well, IBM has launched a community space for programmers to write software to connect remote devices to back-end cloud systems. The site, called DeveloperWorks Recipes, provides a base for developers to learn about how IoT systems work and how to create code to run these systems. This is the second community site that IBM has set up in the past month. Obama rolls out plan to boost U.S. supercomputer prowess

Senators call for investigation of potential safety, security threats from connected cars
A week after it was revealed that a Chrysler Jeep could be hacked and remotely controlled, two U.S. senators have called for the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration to investigate potential widespread risk for consumers.In a letter to NHTSA Administrator Mark Rosekind, U.S. Sens. Edward Markey (D-Mass.) and Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.) said they see potential vulnerabilities in auto information and entertainment systems."We were deeply troubled to learn that these software defects can be exploited by malicious hackers to potentially wreak havoc on our roads," the letter states.
