Providing Security for Software Systems in the Cloud

The software industry has learned that putting fancy boxes on the network
doesn't fix bad software, cloud converts must focus on the risks they bring
along with the software they deploy. This paper details risks to software

be bypassed by hackers, a researcher announced Sunday.

Darlene Storm: FBI digital hunt for Stuxnet leakers treats talking to journalists like a crime

First amendment be damned because the FBI digital hunt for Stuxnet leakers
among government officials almost treats talking to journalists like a crime.
For all the government employee email, cellphone and text message searches, it
was an Israeli official who spilled the beans and said the Pentagon may strike
Iran again if it continues to develop nuclear weapons.

Michael Horowitz: Yet another Java security flaw discovered - Number 53

The river of security flaws in Java just keeps flowing. Today, January 27th,
Adam Gowdiak of Security Enterprises, announced that he has found yet another
vulnerability. This one lets an unsigned Java program run inside a web page even
when the Java 7 Update 11 security rules should prevent it.

Strategy Guide to Security Information Management

In today's world, with its mobile devices and ubiquitous Internet access,
citizens expect increasingly fast, convenient and accessible government
services. Security is needed at every level of IT: applications, servers,
storage, end-devices and networks.

'Andyhave3cats' is a better password than 'Shehave3cats,' study finds

A password made up of a phrase or short sentence may be more secure than a
carefully constructed long one, countering the recommendations of some security
experts.

Employees put critical infrastructure security at risk

Critical infrastructure providers' worst security vulnerability may be their
employees. That's the takeaway from two reported incidents where IT systems
connected to key energy industry assets were found to be infected with malware
deployed using infected USB drives.
