Consolidating Remote Servers and Storage for Security
A new kind of storage architecture allows IT to consolidate remote servers and
data in the data center by decoupling storage from its server over any
distance--even thousands of miles--and still get the same performance as if the
storage remained local to the branch.

Securing Edge Data at the Center
Even as enterprises focus relentlessly on consolidation of data centers, they
continue to aggressively expand the roles and numbers of branch offices, often
located in remote locations that are difficult to support and protect. That
poses the issue of how to protect data on the edge of the network, which may be
subject to a variety of risks.

Requirements for compliance
As organizational needs change, often your IT infrastructure does as well. But
if you're accepting credit cards as payment -- as most organizations do -- these
changes to your infrastructure can rattle your compliance with the Payment Card
Industry Data Security Standards (PCI DSS).

Richi Jennings: NY Times website down for HOURS. Hacked by China again?
Rent-a-quotes yell "Cyber Attack!" The New York Times website went down for
more than two hours yesterday. It limped along for a few hours after it came
back. Naturally, this led some to speculate that China has been up to it's old
tricks again. In IT Blogwatch, bloggers blog the meta-news.

Darlene Storm: Hacked wireless baby monitor lets pervert spy on and cuss at baby girl
Imagine remote attackers going beyond secretly eyeing the inside of your house
via your wireless camera, to spying on and cursing at your child via the
wireless baby monitor. The pervert that hacked into a Houston family's video
baby monitor provides a cautionary tale demonstrating the importance of securing
wireless devices like IP cameras to protect your privacy.
